National Trust

There are a number of National Trust sites that we recommend visiting, open to both members and non-members. Some of our top picks include:

Houghton Mill – Houghton Mill is situated at just under 10 miles from Stroudhill and is one of the oldest working mills on the River Great Ouse. The mill also houses an exhibition of late 19th and early 20th century painting showing Houghton Mill, St Ives and the surrounding area as it was over 100 years ago. Learn more about Houghton Mill

Ramsey Abbey Gatehouse – The Ramsey Abbey Gatehouse is situated at just over 7 miles from the campsite. Once an island in the Fens, this charming former gatehouse is all that remains of the oldest English and one great Benedictine abbey at Ramsey. Learn more about Ramsey Abbey Gatehouse

Peckhover House and Garden – this National trust site is a little further away from the campsite but provides the perfect location for an afternoon stroll all year round. It really is a secret gem, an oasis hidden away in an urban environment. The gardens themselves are outstanding, with just over 2 acres of sensory delight, complete with orangery, summer-houses, croquet lawn and rose garden with more than 60 species of rose. A great rural, peaceful site and perfect setting to explore Cambridgeshire.   There is a lovely restaurant with excellent facilities on the site and we loved walking the dogs around the beautiful lake and tracks.  A very well kept site - we will visit again.

The campsite and its surroundings provided the perfect location for a breakaway, well worth a visit.
