There are many National Trust properties (eg. Wimpole Hall, Houghton Mill, Peckover House and Anglesey Abbey) within a short distance of the site along with numerous other heritage houses and gardens welcoming visitors. Huntingdonshire has a wealth of history, which is brought to life in local museums along with historical links with famous people including Samuel Pepys and Oliver Cromwell. Huntingdonshire also offers a landscape of ancient churches and lovely villages in pretty rural scenery of water meadows, river valleys and riverside parks. There are miles of public footpaths and bridleways criss-crossing through open countryside linking parks and nature reserves to charming market towns and villages. Cyclists too are well catered for as the area is easily explored with a few gentle hills and many quiet lanes and cycleways. The pretty riverside market town of St Ives is just 15 minutes away from the site by car. Markets are held on Mondays and Fridays and the town has all other services the visitor may require. St Ives is steeped in history, being the home of Oliver Cromwell. Take a walk along the river and feed the swans or visit the local galleries and museum. St Ives also boasts a variety of restaurants.
